Who Instigates Russian-Ukrainian War Over Crimea?

Overnight into August 7, a Ukrainian sabotage-reconnaissance group attempted to penetrate the Russian-Ukrainian border between the Republic of Crimea and the Ukrainian region of Kherson. The group, that was discovered discovered near the town of Armyansk, was preparing to conduct terrorist attacks against the peninsula’s infrastructure and civilian objects. If it succeeded, it provoked a full-scale war between Russia and Ukraine.

Sources say that when the FSB team arrived at the specified location, it found 20 infiltrators who were loading up explosives, and who almost immediately opened fire on the reaction team. A battle ensued, which cost the life of an FSB serviceman. Following additional fighting, the unidentified group reportedly split – 14 or 15 of them left for Ukrainian territory by water and about five remained in Crimean territory.

According to the FSB, 20 home-made explosive devices equivalent to more than 40 kilogrammes of TNT, as well as ammunition, shells, and other weapons used by the Ukrainian Army’s special forces were discovered at the scene. The follow-on measures eliminated a network of agents operated by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Crimea. Ukrainian and Russian citizens, engaged in the preparation of terrorist attacks, were arrested, and are now giving evidence.

Two more attempts by Ukrainian raiding and terrorist groups to break through were prevented from doing so by Russian forces on Monday. Kiev’s armored vehicles provided covering fire for the groups from the Ukrainian side, the FSB said, adding that one Russian serviceman had been killed in that operation. Following the incident, Russia relocated significant forces, including helicopter gunships and heavy military equipment to the towns of Armyansk and Dzhankoy near the Ukrainian border.

The thwarted acts of sabotage were planned and prepared by the official Kiev. The Ukrainian regime hardly decided to launch such attempt without authorization from the US State Department. The US mainstream military and diplomatic establishment were likely interested in an escalation in the Ukraine in order to strengthen the political attitude of its presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton. However, Russian security forces were able to repel the attempt and keep the situation under control. Despite this, the recent comments of Russian President and other officials demonstrate that Moscow has prepared a tough response to the Kiev regime and its supporters in NATO if acts of aggression are repeated.
