Israeli Forces Storm Al-Aqsa, Fire Sound Bombs at Worshipers

Israeli forces stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound in occupied East Jerusalem via the Moroccans Gate and heavily fired sound bombs at Palestinian worshipers following Friday payers.

A Ma’an reporter said that dozens of heavily armed Israeli soldiers stormed the Al-Aqsa Mosque and spread out across the compound and on the way leading to the Chain Gate.

Israeli forces fired sound bombs immediately after Friday prayers ended in order to remove worshipers from the mosque.

Tensions are still rising among Israeli forces and worshipers in the compound.

Israeli forces detained five Palestinian youths and are forcefully removing the Al-Aqsa security guards from the compound, preventing the guards from remaining on the premises to secure the area. Firas al-Dibs, head of the Public Relations and Media Department at the Islamic Endowment (Waqf), said that a number of worshipers were injured by shrapnel of sound bombs.

Al-Dibs described the worshipers’ injuries as minor. An Al-Aqsa security guard, Hamza Khalaf, was also injured with a sound bomb. Sources confirmed that Israeli forces attacked worshipers including women, young girls and elderly by pushing and beating them to leave the compound.

In the meantime, Israeli forces are preventing access to the Al-Aqsa mosque.
