Russia Is Waging an Existential Struggle in Defense of Its Independence & Sovereignty

Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine gives this civilization-state a chance to defend its independence and sovereignty that are under existential threat by the US-led West. In preserving his Great Power’s geostrategic existence, President Putin is actually attempting to retain some semblance of stability in the increasingly destabilized world that’s been thrown into chaos by America’s apocalyptic plot to restore its declining unipolar hegemony.

Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine was commenced as a last resort to uphold the integrity of its national security red lines in that country in particular and in the region more broadly that were being crossed by the US-led West in pursuit of its grand strategic plot to restore its declining unipolar hegemony. Had President Putin not decisively acted when he did upon the failure of his country’s noble attempt to diplomatically resolve the undeclared US-provoked missile crisis in Europe through the sharing of its security guarantee requests in late December, then he wouldn’t have successfully averted World War III like he just did. Russia would have inevitably been placed in a perpetual position of blackmail by a Weapons of Mass Destructionequipped Ukraine that would have coerced incessant concessions from it on its Western patrons’ behalf, ultimately leading to its “Balkanization” with time.

It’s for these reasons why one can objectively describe Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine as an existential struggle in defense of its independence and sovereignty exactly as that country’s top officials have explained to the public. President Putin made this abundantly clear in his 24 February address to the Russian people announcing the onset of this campaign when he dramatically revealed that “If we look at the sequence of events and the incoming reports, the showdown between Russia and these forces cannot be avoided. It is only a matter of time. They are getting ready and waiting for the right moment. Moreover, they went as far as aspire to acquire nuclear weapons. We will not let this happen.” This was eventually followed up by Foreign Minister Lavrov in similarly stark terms earlier this month.

Russia’s top diplomat said that “We have come to understand that it’s not just about Ukraine, it is about an aggression against all things Russian, including Russia’s interests, religion, culture, language, security and so on. And now, the West’s reaction to our actions, which is completely frenzied I would say – please excuse the harsh words – shows that an actual life or death struggle is underway for Russia’s right to exist on the world map and fully ensure its legitimate interests.” Russian Foreign Intelligence (SVR) spy chief Naryshkin added to this yesterday by explaining that “Our country is experiencing a truly historic moment right now. The fate of Russia, its future place in the world, is being decided. The main factor in the development of Russia, the core of its thousand-year history has been and remains sovereignty – the right to independently, freely and consciously determine its own destiny.”

President Putin also spoke yesterday too, this time drawing attention to his country’s myriad Hybrid War threats that are being leveraged by the US-led West in an attempt to destabilize it from within. He warned that “Of course they (the West) will try to bet on the so-called fifth column, on traitors – on those who earn their money here, but live over there. Live, not in the geographical sense, but in the sense of their thoughts, their slavish thinking. Any people, and especially the Russian people, will always be able to distinguish the true patriots from the scum and the traitors, and just to spit them out like a midge that accidentally flew into their mouths… And there is one aim – the destruction of Russia…I am convinced that this natural and necessary self-cleansing of society will only strengthen our country, our solidarity, cohesion and readiness to meet any challenge.”

These three top officials are absolutely correct in their assessments of the grand strategic dynamics at play. The US-led West is indeed attempting to wipe Russia off the map as an independent geopolitical actor through the means that were explained in the first paragraph of the present analysis. The conflict was truly unavoidable exactly as President Putin revealed, which is why he was compelled to act when he did in order to prevent it from inevitably taking place on his country’s own territory and thus sparking World War III. Lavrov and Naryshkin were therefore accurate in describing their country’s special military operation in Ukraine as an existential struggle for Russia in defense of its right to freely choose its destiny. All the while, President Putin was prudent to warn his compatriots about those myriad internal threats to their civilization-state and hinting at the counterintelligence operations underway.

To simplify everything, the US’ unipolar pushback against the multipolar processes unleashed by the ongoing global systemic transition aimed to geostrategically neutralize Russia prior to completing the consequent “containment” of China, which American policymakers assess as their top challenge this century. World War III would have been sparked had President Putin continued unsuccessfully pursuing diplomatic solutions to his country’s national security red lines since the unavoidable war would have ultimately taken place on Russia’s territory instead of Ukraine’s. The Eurasian Great Power would have likely been compelled to desperately employ nuclear weapons in self-defense, thus leading to the end of the world or at least of Russia and a large part of the West (most probably the entirety of Europe), with completely unpredictable consequences for International Relations in the aftermath.

Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine therefore averted that apocalyptic scenario, at least for the time being, by giving this civilization-state a chance to defend its independence and sovereignty that are under existential threat by the US-led West. In preserving his Great Power’s geostrategic existence, President Putin is actually attempting to retain some semblance of stability in the increasingly destabilized world that’s been thrown into chaos by America’s dangerous plot to restore its declining unipolar hegemony. The alternative would have been to passively accept Russia’s inevitable dissolution as the natural outcome of the blackmail that it would have been perpetually put under had President Putin sat back and allowed the West to equip Ukraine with Weapons of Mass Destruction in parallel with neutralizing his country’s nuclear second-strike capabilities.

Far from the so-called “fascist war of unprovoked aggression” that the US-led Western Mainstream Media claims that he’s waging, President Putin is actually waging an existential struggle in defense of Russia’s independence and sovereignty that are under unprecedented threat from the literally fascist West. He’s doing his utmost to return International Relations to the ambitious model originally envisioned by the UN Charter but which failed to enter into practice due to the onset of the American-provoked Old Cold War shortly after that document’s promulgation and the brief period of unipolar hegemony that darkly descended onto the world after 1991 and resulted in the deaths of millions across the Global South since then. In other words, Russia is trying to save the world from America’s apocalyptic plot to destroy it in order to one day hopefully restore equality and justice to global affairs.

In an effort to simplify the situation, the United States has been engaging in a unipolar approach to counteract the multipolar processes that have emerged during the ongoing global systemic transition. The primary objective of this approach is to strategically diminish Russia’s influence before moving on to containing China, which American policymakers view as their greatest challenge in the 21st century.
