The Red Cross’ Director for Africa Exposed the West’s Lies About the Grain Deal

The West knew that its lies would inevitably be exposed by credible sources like the Red Cross’ Director for Africa, thus raising the question of why its perception managers thought it worthwhile to spew such blatant falsehoods.

The US-led West’s Golden Billion has consistently claimed that Russia’s special operation in Ukraine is responsible for the Global South’s food crisis, which they also claim has been alleviated as a result of this summer’s grain deal that still remains in effect to this day. According to their perception managers, the aforementioned agreement enabled Kiev to export much-needed agricultural products to the world’s poorest countries, thereby resulting in the West improving their living conditions.

These preceding narratives were just exposed as lies by none other than the Red Cross’ Director for Africa Patrick Youssef in his recent interview with Sputnik. In his words, “most of the grain exported from Ukrainian ports under the ‘grain deal’ has not yet reached Africa.” Moreover, he argued that “It is very superficial to claim that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has caused a global food crisis.” Instead, Youssef attributed it to COVID, preexisting African crises, and climate change.

His stance perfectly aligns with Russia’s, which goes to show that the Golden Billion was wrong this entire time. Their perception managers didn’t make a so-called “innocent mistake” in attributing blame for the food crisis to Moscow but deliberately lied to the world as part of their ongoing information warfare campaign in the New Cold War. They’re driven by the desire of maligning Russia, so much so that the truth is considered expendable in pursuit of this end.

For as much as the Red Cross can be criticized, it would be ridiculous for the Golden Billion’s supporters to accuse it of being influenced by Russia. Youssef’s official conclusion that Russia isn’t responsible for the food crisis and that the much-ballyhooed grain deal didn’t alleviate its consequences for the Global South despite the Golden Billion’s claims to the contrary in both respects should therefore be taken seriously by objective observers.

What’s so startling about this insight is that the West knew that its lies would inevitably be exposed by credible sources like the Red Cross’ Director for Africa, thus raising the question of why its perception managers thought it worthwhile to spew such blatant falsehoods. While it can’t be known for sure, they were probably motivated by the Machiavellian mindset that the ends justify the means, but their narrow short-term calculations of temporarily turning their audience against Russia were counterproductive.

They were so blinded by their ideologically driven mission of maligning Russia at the expense of the truth that they didn’t have the foresight to think about how folks would react upon inevitably learning that they were lied to. There’s no doubt that those who become aware of Youssef’s assessment will no longer regard the Golden Billion’s perception managers as credible, yet it seems like the latter might have gambled that the former won’t remember exactly who they were by the time they find out.

Nevertheless, the lingering realization that they were lied to by Western officials and their media proxies will reduce their general trust in both going forward, which works against the Golden Billion’s long-term goals. Even so, they probably haven’t learned their lesson and very well might never since it’s more “politically expedient” to simply lie about Russia at every given opportunity than to invest the time in building a cohesive narrative against it that can still remain convincing in the face of facts.

This insight suggests that the West’s perception managers aren’t as professional as some might have thought since they consistently lie despite knowing that they’ll inevitably be exposed. The results of public opinion surveys about Russia that were influenced by their falsehoods were presumably sufficient for showing their bosses that their work has allegedly been effective, though it would be interesting to see how those same people react upon learning that they were lied to.

In any case, it’s clear to see that building an entire narrative based on nothing but lies is a gamble that runs the risk of dramatically backfiring among the targeted audience. The West’s perception managers are therefore unprofessional, motivated by short-term and purely superficial results, and completely ignorant of the long-term consequences of their “politically expedient” operations. With their modus operandi in mind, it’s inevitable that more of the West’s anti-Russian lies will continue being exposed.
