Biden Spit in Every Pakistani’s Face But Its Foreign Minister Is Scrambling to Make Excuses

By scrambling to make excuses for Biden and even absurdly attempting to connect the former premier to the American President’s unprecedented fearmongering about Pakistan, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari totally discredited his post-modern coup regime’s legitimacy by showing that it’s willing to accept the worst insult about their country spewed by the world’s most powerful man in a pathetic attempt to display unflinching fealty.

No self-respecting country should ever make excuses for those foreign officials who insult their homeland, yet that’s precisely what Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari (BBZ) just did after US President Joe Biden said that this South Asian state “is maybe one of the most dangerous countries in the world” because it has “nuclear weapons without any cohesion.” It’s true that BBZ declared that the US Ambassador was summoned for a demarche, but that country’s top diplomat also still scrambled to make excuses for Biden too.

According to the Foreign Minister, “I believe this is exactly the sort of misunderstanding that is created when there is a lack of engagement…(but) I don’t think this was an official function, it wasn’t an address to the parliament or an interview. It was a fundraiser. It was an untraditional conversation in which this sentence was used so it should be looked at in this manner. We will continue on the positive trajectory of engagements we are having so far.” In other words, this unprecedented fearmongering by the most powerful man in the world is being swept under the rug on the false basis that it wasn’t “official”.

Biden spit in every Pakistani’s face, yet BBZ dismissed everything he said as supposedly only being part of “an untraditional conversation”, which isn’t true. The transcript itself, after all, was published on the official White House website without any disclaimer that everything contained therein was supposedly only said in an “unofficial capacity” like BBZ falsely said was the case. The fact of the matter is that the US’ Commander-in-Chief and supreme decisionmaker when it comes to all national security-related issues just declared that Pakistan “is maybe one of the most dangerous countries in the world.”

No objective observer can responsibly downplay this official policy statement, nor can any Pakistani who truly loves their country irrespective of whatever their partisan disposition might be during these domestically tumultuous times. What’s most insulting about all of this is that Biden was ridiculously fearmongering about the same country who his government just recently returned to its traditional vassal status vis a vis his declining unipolar hegemon after successfully orchestrating a post-modern coup against former Prime Minister Imran Khan as punishment for his independent foreign policy.

The clique that replaced him, which includes BBZ among others, celebrated what they claimed was inevitably bound to be a new era of relations with America. They tried gaslighting the over 220 million people who they represent by spinning the lie that bilateral ties were unilaterally weakened by the former premier at the expense of their country’s objective national interests. The artificially manufactured information warfare narrative that they tried brainwashing their targeted audience into believing was that Pakistani-American relations were entering a renaissance era after his removal.

That literal propaganda was just discredited by other than Biden himself, yet instead of accepting this reality and recalibrating their narrative accordingly, the post-modern coup regime doubled down as evidenced by BBZ’s statement implying that former Prime Minister Khan was somehow to blame via his reference to how “this is exactly the sort of misunderstanding that is created when there is a lack of engagement.” That’s a lie if there ever was one because bilateral engagement is presently more active than it’s been in a while, plus the US knows that Pakistan isn’t truly one of the world’s top threats.

By scrambling to make excuses for Biden and even absurdly attempting to connect the former premier to the American President’s unprecedented fearmongering about Pakistan, BBZ totally discredited his post-modern coup regime’s legitimacy by showing that it’s willing to accept the worst insult about their country spewed by the world’s most powerful man in a pathetic attempt to display unflinching fealty. The economic crisis whose roots predated last spring’s regime change but which was immensely exacerbated by it has made Pakistan dependent on the US’ “goodwill” for IMF and other forms of aid.

This renewed patron-proxy relationship severely curtails Pakistan’s strategic autonomy in the global systemic transition to multipolarity, which it still maintains to a certain extent as proven by its pragmatic commitment to retaining principled neutrality towards the Ukrainian Conflict but is nevertheless publicly eroding by the day as confirmed by its Foreign Minister’s effort to make excuses for Biden’s insult. BBZ clearly isn’t cut out for the job that he was given as a political reward for his family dynasty’s role in the regime change against former Prime Minister Khan and should thus consider resigning in shame.
