Kiev Is Fearmongering About Its Own Refugees in a Desperate Bid to Get More EU Military Aid

The supreme irony is that Kiev’s representatives spew ethno-nationalist hate speech against Russians in Ukraine while simultaneously stoking similar such ethno-nationalist hatred against their own refugees in Europe through the dog whistles that they just blew by fearmongering about them. This Machiavellian weaponization of hate speech proves that they’re not below putting their most desperate citizens in danger abroad in order to get what they demand for beating Russia at home.

The latest feamongering campaign about Ukrainian refugees is coming from the least likely of places, which is none other than Kiev itself. After praising Europe for hosting millions of its own people over the past eight months, that fascist regime is now trying to scare them about these very same people. Zelensky warned his EU counterparts last week to brace themselves for a so-called “wave of resettlement”, which was then followed by Prime Minister Shmygal embellishing his boss’ words by adding that this forthcoming wave is actually more akin to a “new migration tsunami.”

The whole reason why Kiev has flipped the script on its own refugees is because it’s hoping to scare the EU into urgently dispersing more military aid, particularly air defense systems, in order to supposedly preempt millions of its people from fleeing to that bloc. Russia’s variation of “shock and awe” has recently seen that newly restored world power destroy a significant share of its neighbor’s electricity grid, thus plunging large swathes of that crumbling former Soviet Republic into darkness. Quite understandably, the average Ukrainian doesn’t want to live in those conditions during the winter.

Everyone has the UN-enshrined right to flee as refugees from active conflicts in their homeland to the first safe country in their region, and this includes those males aged 18-60 who Kiev has arbitrarily banned from leaving. As living conditions abruptly deteriorate much quicker than they’ve thus far been since the start of Russia’s special operation in late February, it’s predictable that more folks will seriously consider flooding into Poland, including those same males who face persecution at the hands of their dreaded secret police if they dare to flee. Everyone’s becoming much more desperate so it makes sense.

From Kiev’s perspective, it’s unacceptable that males might consider fleeing en masse since the fascist regime relies on throwing an unlimited amount of meat into the Russian grinder. Its secret police can’t intercept all those that might soon leave, however, hence the need to urgently create the conditions that could make it less likely that a large number of them will flee. That’s the undeclared purpose of fearmongering about the “new migration tsunami” to Europe, which is aimed at obtaining air defense systems that could be used to cushion some of the blow inflicted upon their power grid.

The failure to stop its further destruction will worsen the situation at home to the extent that more military-aged males will inevitably end up fleeing alongside their families, which could ultimately deprive Kiev of the seemingly endless reserves of meat it needs to continue throwing into the Russian grinder. Without those daily sacrifices, their opponent will have a greater chance of regaining previously lost ground and even pushing back the line of control upon liberating more territory. If those military-strategic dynamics continue unchecked, Kiev’s forces might collapse as abruptly as their power grid.

With a view towards preventing that from happening, the fascist regime has sought to fearmonger about its own refugees in the hopes of manipulating EU states into urgently dispatching the air defense systems that Kiev demands in order to stave off the coming “tsunami” that their leaders are worried will embolden the rising right-wing opposition at home. The problem, however, is that those same European countries have already depleted a large amount of their military stockpiles supplying that crumbling former Soviet Republic up until this point so they might be reluctant to dispatch even more aid.

The only way in which any country could be convinced to sacrifice its objective national security interests like Kiev is demanding of those European ones is if their elite has self-interested reasons in doing so, ergo the genius behind those fascists fearmongering about a “wave of resettlement”. By using the same language that their right-wing opponents regularly employ, Zelensky and his premier hope to scare their counterparts into giving them what they want out of concern that failing to do so could ultimately spell their political doom during the next elections, if not earlier.

Therein lies the supreme irony because Kiev’s representatives spew ethno-nationalist hate speech against Russians in Ukraine while simultaneously stoking similar such ethno-nationalist hatred against their own refugees in Europe through the dog whistles that they just blew by fearmongering about them. This Machiavellian weaponization of hate speech proves that they’re not below putting their most desperate citizens in danger abroad in order to get what they demand for beating Russia at home. Morals, ethics, and principles don’t matter in the pursuit of achieving their objectives despite the costs.
