Zelensky’s Fearmongering about a NATO-Russian War Is a Despicable Way to Solicit More Funding
While he didn’t demand that US troops fight Russia on Ukraine’s behalf like a decontextualized viral video misleadingly implies, he did indeed fearmonger that they’ll inevitably have to fight that country on NATO’s behalf if Kiev ultimately loses. Zelensky deliberately didn’t clarify that Russia “enter[ing] Baltic states, NATO member states” is a far-fetched scenario, instead confidently predicting as a matter of supposedly undebatable fact that this sequence of events is guaranteed to unfold if he doesn’t get billions more from US taxpayers pronto.
The Mainstream Media (MSM) is once again manipulating Western perceptions about the NATO-Russian proxy war in Ukraine by twisting their fact-check of a scandalous statement from Zelensky to falsely claim that he never fearmongered about US troops getting killed in a large-scale European war. Marjorie Taylor-Greene (MTG) referenced a decontextualized video going viral on social media that misleadingly implies that Zelensky demanded US troops fight Russia on Ukraine’s behalf during her speech at CPAC.
Her faux pas was immediately picked up on by the MSM, which subsequently spin that foreign leader’s decontextualized words in their twisted fact-check to falsely claim that he didn’t fearmonger about any such scenario whatever at all. The Associated Press’ fact-check of this viral video prior to MTG’s remarks inadvertently discredits its fellow MSM counterparts’ efforts to manipulate Western perceptions in such a way. “The U.S. is never going to give up on the NATO member states. If it happens so that Ukraine, due to various opinions and weakening, depleting of assistance, loses, Russia is going to enter Baltic states, NATO member states, and then the U.S. will have to send their sons and daughters exactly the same way as we are sending their sons and daughters to war. And they will have to fight. Because it’s NATO that we’re talking about, and they will be dying, god forbid, because it’s a horrible thing.”

In early January, immediately prior to the “official narrative” about the Ukrainian Conflict decisively shifting after American and Polish authorities warned that Kiev’s loss in this conflict can no longer be ruled out, top Ukrainian and former US officials panicked that the $100 billion given to it wasn’t enough. This was followed in mid-February by the NATO chief declaring that his bloc is in a so-called “race of logistics”/“war of attrition” with Russia, all of which preceded Zelensky’s fearmongering above.
Having placed his scandalous comments in context, there’s no doubt that what he said is just as despicable as the misleading message that viewers were exposed to in the viral video that the MSM is manipulatively attempting to debunk. It doesn’t matter that he didn’t demand US troops fight Russia on Ukraine’s behalf right now since him confidently predicting that they’ll inevitably have to fight them on NATO’s behalf if taxpayers don’t keep forking up billions of more dollars for him is bad enough as it is.
The MSM was thrown into a dilemma by the viral video that misled views about what Zelensky really said since ignoring it risked extending credence to that interpretation while directly addressing it by placing his scandalous comments in context exposes his despicable method of soliciting more funding. They were damned either way, ultimately preferring to embarrass those who were duped by the video over risking their audience learning the equally damning truth about what he really said.
Those who deliberately decontextualized Zelensky’s scandalous comments likely intended only to mislead their audience and probably had no prior plan to exert “reflexive control” over the MSM by forcing them into this a dilemma, but the outcome is still the same since those perception managers damned themselves in the end. Those Americans who were exposed to their manipulative fact-check now see just how despicable the Ukrainian leader’s method of soliciting more funds from them is.
